Update about service project conducted by employees of S&P Capital IQ (www.spcapitaliq.com) - Business unit of McGraw Hill Financial (www.mhfi.com), Hyderabad, India

Project Location: Zilla Parishad High School, Nijampet, Kukatpally, Hyderabad, India
About the Project: The Government School with 550 students and doesn’t have a basic needs that study desks and books and lunch shelter. After our project, they used to do lunch and morning prayer under our newly constructed shelter. The CIM project facilitates sitting benches for the students and to bring back smiles.

Highlights:
1.       MHFI provided Rs.50,000 worth of school benches
2.       MHFI provided Rs.40,000 worth of Lunch shelter
3.       MHFI provided Rs.10,000 worth of sports items to the students
4.       MHFI provided Rs.5000 worth of note books and stationary items to the students
5.       Volunteers spend 6 hours of their personal time to teach about career guidance and basics of business and finance
6.       Provided 20 high school benches which can be facilitate 2 class rooms with 80 students
7.       Conducted games and quiz regarding subjective matters
8.       Distributed Gifts to students

Impact:
·         With lunch shelter many students used to have it for their lunch and morning prayer and can facilitate it as cultural activities as well
·         20 high school benches which can be facilitate 2 class rooms with 80 students
·         Provided sports items with all equipment help them to play on ground
·         Shared knowledge and explained about career guidance

About Community Impact Program: McGraw-Hill Financial ( www.mhfi.com ) the company which strongly believes in the motto, 'Giving back is essential'. MHFI encourages its employees to work for service projects in which 20+ employees would be working together and for solving public problems in their community to build better lives and stronger communities. MHFI grants $2000 per project and employees spend their personal time on the project. This year S&P Capital IQ, Hyderabad (part of MHFI group www.spcapitaliq.com ) employees applied for projects from various areas.


FEEDBACK OF THE VOLUNTEERS:

Ram babu S ( Project Leader ) : This is my First CIM project as Leader, I am thankful to Capital IQ and MHFI for giving this opportunity. I enjoyed a lot to serve them and spend some time with students and remembered my childhood days while playing with them. I had a great time in spending with all volunteer and developed my skills as leader. I am thankful to all volunteers who made this event great success. Looking forward to do like these activities to serve the society and thanks a lot to all.

Narasimha N. ( Project Co-leader ) :I felt So happy to be part of this project. Through this I could get some feeling that I spend some time with students and something given back to society. As our company’s motto “giving back is essential” is made worth attending this program. Looking ahead to be part of some more projects to share values, ethics and basics to society.

Swetha T : I felt so happy to being a part of this CIM program, I learned many things from this program, and very happy to be with all with students and something giving back to society and a part of this great event.

Rakesh A : This project has reminded me of my responsibility towards society, as this project is my first CIM project in MHFI. It was a heartfelt experience serving society and I am happy to be a part of this project. I really felt “Giving Back is Essential”.

Nirupa T : As part of “Community Impact Month”, providing facilities to Zilla Parishad High School at Nijampet has become a worth full service for all. I took this as an opportunity through which I can extend some service to the community from my side. We provided Career Guidance to the students, conducted games, quiz and essay writing competitions. Hope we have imparted some knowledge into their minds through these activities. Students also participated very well and won lot many prizes. Finally, I feel fortunate as I am also a part of this project.
