CIMA – 009 - Saying no to Plastic bags & Construction of Three Mini Water Tanks at Narsapur, Medak on 21st June, 2015

Update about service project conducted by employees of S&P Capital IQ (www.spcapitaliq.com) - Business unit of McGraw Hill Financial (www.mhfi.com), Hyderabad, India

Project Location: Saraswati Sishu Mandir School, Narsapur, Medak District, Telangana, India
About the Project: Sishu Mandir School with 100 students studying and recently upgraded with English Medium but they didn’t have furniture/ benches to students to sit. With this CIM project facilitates sitting benches for the students and to bring back smiles. In the part of CIM Project we also constructed the 2 mini water tanks in the village which will solve the more than 150 families (nearly 400 people) drinking water problem.

Activities done on CIM Day: 
·         Facilitating Benches to the students
·          Plantation
·         Games conducted and prizes distributed to students.
·         Painting to water tanks
·         Educated the villagers to avoid the usage of plastic & plastic bags.
Date & Time: 21st June, 2015 from 09 AM to 6:00 PM
Number of Volunteers: 22

Highlights:
1.       MHFI Constructed 02 Mini Water tanks with the worth of Rs. 70,000
2.       MHFI provided 15 school benches with the worth of Rs.30,000
3.       MHFI provided Sports & Gifts items to the school with the worth of Rs.3,000
4.       Volunteers spend 08 hours of their personal time for plantation and painting to the water tanks.
5.       Conducted games and quiz regarding subjective matters
6.       Distributed Gifts to students

Impact:
1.       15 school benches which can be facilitate 03 class rooms with 60 students.
2.       Constructed the 2 mini water tanks in the village which will solve the more than 150 families (nearly 400 people) drinking water problem.
3.       Provided Sports & Gift items which will be beneficiated in career.
4.       Educated the people about to avoid the usage of plastic which will impact on environment.

About Community Impact Program: McGraw-Hill Financial ( www.mhfi.com ) the company which strongly believes in the motto, 'Giving back is essential'. MHFI encourages its employees to work for service projects in which 20+ employees would be working together and for solving public problems in their community to build better lives and stronger communities. MHFI grants $2000 per project and employees spend their personal time on the project. This year S&P Capital IQ, Hyderabad (part of MHFI group www.spcapitaliq.com ) employees applied for projects from various areas.


FEEDBACK OF THE VOLUNTEERS:
Raju Posanipally (Project Leader): It is one more opportunity that I got in my life to spend some time or to serve the society with the help of CIM project. It is amazing to see the student’s creativity and thinking power when we teach something to them, they are learning the things very quick. Plantation is always wonder experience to save the environment. This CIM project has given me a lot of satisfaction as with this we have solved the more than 150 family’s drinking water problem. 

Raghavendra Amarnath Goud Gattu Surya (Project Co-Leader): I feel this is the wonderful opportunity given by Capital IQ management to serve the society in the part of CIM Projects. I never forget the time spent with the volunteers and villagers while plantation and painting to the water tanks. I am wonder to see the people of that particular village voluntarily participated in the project for plantation.

Kalyani Sapare Namdev: First of all I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to CIQ for conducting community impact programs and giving us an opportunity to serve the society. It was really amazing to interact with the students and imparting an educational spirit in them. I really felt very happy spending time with the students and planting trees. Though it was a week-off for us, that time was worth spending for society. It proved the quote giving back is essential. Yes!  We are trying to give back what environment and society has given to us. I thank Raju making me a part of the program. I hope many more programs like these will be conducted in future also

Santhumani Behara: I think CIM project does great things, and I am proud to have been a small part of it and had a wonderful time. I have volunteered twice for this type of projects. Smiles on the face of students looks like light up any room and leave a stamp on our heart that will never go away. Teaching was such a worthwhile experience, not only for me but also for other volunteers. I met so many new people and learnt so much about the environment with the help of CIM Project. Thank you for the opportunities you have provided me.

Srikanth Bolli: This event given me a chance for volunteer service, giving back is always shows the responsibility of a citizen towards the society and surroundings. As part of the event, educated the students about moral values and career growth and painted to water tank, which will provide drinking water facility to nearby colony people. I am feeling proud as I have taken a part of the Community Impact Month program at Narsapur village.

Ayyappa Venkata Jana Teja Pentakota: It was the very memorable day in my life, digging the other side of my life. Thank you to Capital IQ management for organize such an event and coordinating our entire volunteer is speechless. It is s not only serving people but sharing our time those people makes us felt happy. All this happens with the wonderful support of MHFI. Hope this will continue every year.

Venkata Siva Tammatkala: I feel proud as I am a part of Community Impact Month at Narsapur Village. It will be a sweet memorable day in my life. Because of I have never felt such a movement in my life.

Srinivas Kumar Korampalli: The concept of Community impact program is a wonderful opportunity provided by our company to serve the society.  I really thank to Capital IQ management providing me a chance to be a part of Social Service activity through CIM Projects.


FEEDBACK OF THE BENEFICIARIES:
Basappa (Head Master Sri Saraswathi Sishu Mandiram- Narsapur): It was a first time that we have received corporate support for the 100+students in our school, as of now we didn’t have any benches and suffering with funds to purchase. S&P Capital IQ helped to us at the correct time by providing the benches. The volunteers did the wonderful activities like plantation and premises cleaning and motivated us to do it daily.
Thanks to S&P Capital IQ and the all the volunteers for spending the personal time in our school.

Hanumanth Venkata Ramana Rao (Sarpench Narsapur): This is a great opportunity to me to take a part to serve the society. I have never seen before any corporate company done this type of activities to the society. I think S&P Capital IQ has done a good job by identifying and providing the basic needs to students and poor people.
