Update about service project conducted by employees of S&P Capital IQ (www.spcapitaliq.com) - Business unit of McGraw Hill Financial (www.mhfi.com), Hyderabad, India.

Project Location: Government Primary School, Sriram Nagar, Hyderabad.
About the Project: Sriramnagar Government Primary School (and Anganvadi center) has 600+ students (including three mediums – Telugu, English and Urdu). The school has no name board. Due to their unawareness they are not maintaining the school premises properly. The school walls are dirty and they do not have proper water facilities too. They do not have plates to have mid-day meals.
Non-profit partner: Lead India 2020 Foundation
Project Leader: Hari Krishna Muriki
Activity: Whitewashing the school, painting the blackboards, creating awareness of cleanliness by taking classes to the students, providing electric water motor for proper water facilities, washroom repairs, cleaning the school premises and providing plates for mid-day meals.
Project date & time: 27th June, 2015 & 9 am to 4 pm
Number of Volunteers: 15

Highlights:
1.       Interacting with the students and creating awareness of cleanliness and its importance.
2.       Cleaning the school premises.
3.       Painting the blackboards.
4.       Donating sports kit, plates and other useful materials to school.
5.       Conducting games and distributing prizes.

Impact:
Good surroundings and facilities create good learning environment. 600+ students benefited. They will get awareness of cleanliness and its importance. The school won’t face any water problems in near future. The school will better equip with good facilities.

About Community Impact Month: McGraw-Hill Financial strongly believes in the motto, ‘Giving back is essential’. It extends to giving back to the society. MHFI launched this year Community Impact Month, in which 20+ employees will come together and work for solving any public problem in their community. MHFI grants $2000 per project and employees will spend their personal time for the project. This year S&P Capital IQ employees applied for 100 such projects. These employees work tirelessly to fulfill the motto and render true meaning to ‘Giving back is essential’.

Hari Krishna Muriki (Project Leader): Change never comes as its own. We should bring. S & P Capital had done the same. I really feel proud to be a part of the change. The school kids are really bright and deserve what we have provided to them and even more. It’s really a good experience to lead a project which has wonderful volunteers. I am thankful to McGraw Hill Financial and S&P Capital IQ for giving the opportunity to serve the society.

Rashmi Sharma: I felt extremely happy to be a part of CIM project. Our project leader and volunteers contributed so well in carrying out project activities, which included white washing of school, blackboard painting, conducting games for students, teaching, and finally distributing plates and books. As we say, education is every child’s birth right. In true sense, S&P Capital IQ is making efforts for almost every underprivileged student to get education with better facilities and in proper environment via its CIM projects. S&P Capital IQ gave me an opportunity to work for a social cause.

Bhargav Tummala: Volunteering does make a difference- slowly but surely. Just go for it. You will make great friends, see new places, learn different cultures, have a sense of achievement and make a difference.

Savitha Prasad Bhuvanendra: I have been part of various corporate social responsibility initiatives earlier and the experience is always overwhelming. But the difference we made this time to these kids will always standout in my memories. My biggest take away from this event was their energy and sportsmanship which made me feel what we have long forgotten as grown-up’s. BIG THANKS to our Captain and Co-Captain for arranging all the logistics so well and making the whole experience joyful for us as well as the wonderful kids and teachers. Please count me in for all your future projects.

Laxminarayana Upadhya: Thank you and it was really wonderful time and experience. Appreciate each and every thing which is organized as part of this project. I have really enjoyed had good time volunteering for all the day and kids were amazing.

Project Location: U.P. School, Achampet Village, Narsapur Mandal, Medak District, Telangana, India
About the Project: This is a government run school in which 150+ students are undergoing studies. Even though students possess energy and intelligence to get in to good career, they could not get in to that because of many dropouts from the school. Also they don’t have proper furniture to concentrate on education. Making contribution in these 2 areas will make significant change in their life.

Project Leader: Pavan Kumar Govind
Activity: Volunteers will gather information suitable to the knowledge of students to train them in various advantages of education to add value to their life and deliver those points on CIM day in small interactive groups. And also involves in planting saplings, conducting quiz and sports competitions and distributing prizes to students. In addition to that they will arrange furniture and sports equipment to school. They also will motivate students to dream big and achieve big.

Highlights:
1.       MHFI provided Rs.120,000 for procuring materials and expenses for the project
2.       Providing School Benches for 150 School Students
3.       Guiding them about the value of education and educated persons have in the society

6.       Conducting quiz and essay writing sessions to students.
7.       Career Guidance classes to students.
8.       Conducted games and distributed prizes

Impact:
There are 150 students currently enrolled in the school. They will get inspiration from volunteers and concentrate on their studies by setting clear goals to learn and grow. In addition to that school will become better equipped with good facilities.

Our students did not have benches to sit and they were felling very sad and shame for sitting on the floor earlier. Now with the benches that you have provided they are also happy. Project Location: B.POCHAMPALLY Village and Mandal, Nalgonda District, Telangana, India
About the Project: This is a government charitable Hospital run for underprivileged people and lacks various basic facilities like purify water. This hospital also requires painting. There are 4000 people are living in that village and daily 70-80 out patients will visit hospital. And 10 new babies are delivered per a month in that hospital

Project Leader: Ravi Kumar Gudipati
Activity: Volunteers will work on procuring and necessary material for renovating the entire premises and creating new look for the hospital. They will work on painting the walls, cleaning the premises, repairing water facility, pipelines and other essential facilities at this hospital. Volunteers will also procure RO water purifier to remove high fluoride content water from the ground water which is highly beneficial to the patients visiting that hospital.

Impact:
2000+ people in nearby villages use services from this hospital. Our volunteer work was significantly improve their comfort and facilities while they undergo treatment at hospital.

I am observing that they more inconvenient for dirking water and atmosphere now they are getting immediate benefit with Water Purifier and they are feeling happy with new look of Health centre .

Nagarjuna Kosuru: In my experience relating to CRM project done in last month was good. These types of programs will give enthusiasm towards employees and also helpful to the society, at the time of this social activity from the side of society also responded very happy and encouraged to our team was also good

Kiran Krishna Boyina: According to me, I’m very glad to being a part of this project. Really it’s very good to develop the society and to provide necessary things for backward schools, villages & hospitals. CIQ is always ‘Giving Back’ to the society.

Ajeesh Parambatt: I would like to say thanks to CIQ Hyderabad for giving me chance to participate in the community impact project. As a part of our project we provide water purifying machine and some other required facilities to the Health Centre at Pochampally. I hope these facilities are very much useful to those who depend on that health center. The project was successful because of highly co-operated team work.

Project Location: Proddatoor Village, Valigonda Mandal, Nalgonda District, Telangana, India.
About Project: Storage of water is the basic necessity for the village people as they don’t have separate water connections to their respective homes. Mini water tanks extend great relief to their lives. The village has Library building but without Furniture and books we provided Library Facility to this village, and also we have done some renovation activities in the Upper primary school in this village, on the renovation part we provided flooring on the school veranda, an renovating water tank and toilets in the school and also don’t have playground for the school children for this we provided material and prepared volley ball court and Kho-Kho court by our Volunteers.

Activity: Cleaning and levelling the school ground for students to play and provided of mini water tank. Provided books to the library and we also explained about the use of library to the villagers. They created interest on use of library regularly by the villagers.

Highlights:
1.       MHFI provided Rs.120,000 for procuring Books and expenses for the project
2.       Inaugurated mini water storage tank on the event day.
3.       Educated villagers about the importance of literacy.
4.       Educated villagers about the importance of conserving water.
5.       Volunteers clean up and level the school playground and make it useful by creating Volley ball, Kho-Kho courts for school children.
6.       Provided books for the Library
7.       Conducted quiz and other competitions to students and distributed gifts to winners.
8.       They also motivated students to dream big and achieve big.

Impact:
60 families benefitted with the proposed storage tank construction. 180 students will be using the drinking water from the renovated tank and the renovated toilet system and also uses playground to keep themselves physically fit. They got inspiration from volunteers and concentrate on their studies by setting clear goals to learn and grow. 250 village citizens will be benefitted by reading the books provided in the library.

FEEDBACK OF THE CIM VOLUNTEERS:
Mahesh Palucham (Project Leader): It’s a great privilege that I got a chance to serve the community and that to in my native place Proddatoor. The village consists of a population of around three thousand and around five hundred out of this are graduates with one stream or the other. To pursue their career advancement they required a library which will be very helpful to them. I pursued their problem carefully and approached the village Sarpanch and head of the schools and they assured me to provide a room in the village. For that I am very much thankful to my village heads. To establish a library hall I required basic infrastructure and books and through funding of CIM project I placed order for the furniture and books that required for the library. I am very happy to provide mini water tank in the village and provide necessary requirements in the school through funding or CIM Project. I am very happy to be part of this project and thank full to S&P Capital IQ for giving this opportunity to coordinate and lead this event and thanks to the entire team for supporting me in this event and for the enthusiastic participation. Finally my special thanks to S&P Capital IQ for given this project and elected as a leader.

Sandeep Gurrapu (Co-leader): It’s been very pleasure to work with CIM project as volunteer and as co-leader of the project. It was good opportunity to serve the society. Mahesh Palucham had shown his dedication and commitment in execution of the CIM project. This is a very good initiation of our company towards development of our society. I am very thankful to our company.

Ganga Prasad Bestha: It’s my pleasure to have such a great opportunity of participating in a CIM project to serve the society. I am very thankful to Our Company to facilitating the CIM project. Through this CIM program I deserved an opportunity to serve public through facilitating needs as per their needs with the help of Our Company. This is a very good initiation of our company towards development of our society & spreading name and fame of our brand image. It makes me feel good in wandering people to know the basically needs of them & how to overcome them.

Naveen Gadem Setty: In the part of Giving Back Is Essential. I feel that I have given something to back society with the way provided by S&P Capital IQ .We have got a platform, to give something society, giving the students like motivation, career guidance and explain about usage of library and mini water tank. Sudhakar Karnati: It’s a great opportunity to participate in CIM program which gives us a platform to contribute something what we are having to the society where we live in….I thank S&P Capital IQ and my colleagues who have generated me the opportunity to have something in contrast to our routine busy life.

Ram Mohan Bonthapally: Feeling of Responsibility and Converting the Responsibility in to the actions towards the community and country with patriotism through CIM is exceptional. I am very much glad to be part this CIM. Through this CIM I tried to explain students the value of time and its management for each day. Explained to manage your time with Studying and playing hours as well as their responsibility towards the community and for their own family. Conducting the games and encouraging them towards the physical Development activities and the eating habits and do’s and don’ts. I sense their happiness and Enthusiasm while receiving the Sports material and the Note books and in their response speeches towards the CIM Program and the Volunteers of the program. I am very much happy to see them all smiling with innocent faces and their childhood activities. Once again I thank the event manager Mr. Mahesh Palucham and all volunteers for making it memorable day, and my Special thanks to S&P Capital IQ.

Venkata Ramanaiah Munapati: It was really a great experience in the school and in the village, It reminds us our school days. The students are awesome and Hope we did something for the children to betterment their school days. And provide the knowledge on villagers mind how to use the library and water tank, I thank full to project leader Mahesh Palucham and project head S&P Capital IQ for giving this opportunity.

Narsingam Gurrala: That was one great project, and I’m thankful to you for giving me this opportunity to participate in such project, I would like to participate in future too, what we did was necessary for the growth and education of children, one initiative can change their perspective towards society. And we prepared playground for the school children’s which will very helpful them. I am very proud to be a member of this project. Thanks to S&P Capital IQ and Project leader Mahesh.

Sagar Gembali: It is a great experience being a member of this CIM project. S&P Capital IQ has given me the platform where we can do well to the society. One of the best events I have attended great speakers, atmosphere, skill development program and participation of creating playground – really we enjoyed it and I will be there in future events. Durga Prasad Medicherla: I am very happy to be the part of this wonderful project, which allowed me to work for the welfare of the society. I got immense pleasure and self-satisfaction as I try to give back the society something though this project.
