Update about service project conducted by employees of S&P Capital IQ (www.spcapitaliq.com) - Business unit of McGraw Hill Financial (www.mhfi.com), Hyderabad, India.

Project Location: Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), Nawabpet Village, Nawabpet Mandal, Mahaboobnagar district, Telangana, India

About the Project: This Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) located in Nawabpet village, Nawabpet mandal Mahaboobnagar dist at a distance of 80KM from S&P Capital IQ, Hyderabad and one of most backward area of the dist. In this school around 250 Girl students are studying and they stay within the premises (Hostel). Most of them were very poor background. Through this project we provided facilities like Sports items, Benches and Library books. We believe that by providing such facilities students get enthusiasm on studies and they can concentrate on their studies well, their skills will be enhanced and parents also feel secure to send their children to school.

Activity: Volunteers gathered information and trained the students how to prepare for various competitive exams, career paths available and given clear idea on present educational scenario, and also given guidance for social awareness for how to protect themselves from strangers, unknown situations.

Highlights:

1. MHFI provided Rs.120,000 for procuring materials and expenses for the project

2. Providing School Benches for 160 High School Students

3. Cleaning the premises

4. Providing Sports material to students

5. Conducted quiz and sports to students and distributed prizes.

6. Career Guidance classes and self protection classes to students.

Impact:

Through this project we provided facilities like Sports items, Benches and Library books and gifts, prizes & study material. We believe that by providing such facilities students get enthusiasm on studies and they can concentrate on their studies well, their skills will be enhanced and parents also feel secure to send their children to school.

About Community Impact Program: McGraw-Hill Financial ( www.mhfi.com ) the company which strongly believes in the motto, 'Giving back is essential'. MHFI encourages its employees to work for service projects in which 20+ employees would be working together and for solving public problems in their community to build better lives and stronger communities. MHFI grants $2000 per project and employees spend their personal time on the project. This year S&P Capital IQ, Hyderabad (part of MHFI group www.spcapitaliq.com ) employees applied for projects from various areas.

Charu Shrivastava: The fragrance of Soil, the Aura of friendliness. The sparking eyes and glow in the face. The enthusiasm of learning with Earnestness...Children participation in Kho-Kho, Kabaddi and Race…What else is required to make a perfect day out with a noble cause.. It was an awesome feeling to mingle with the students and to see the smiles in their face… Also, it make me believed that Language cannot be a barriers if you really want to contribute your own share to society.

Sampath: Great trip to me….I feel so HAPPY…It was one of my better event of life, it was a great pleasure for us. Many thanks for your effort with me & thank you very much for organizing a wonderful event.

Durga (Representing KGBV): We are very happy that 25 volunteers came to our school conducted career guidance classes and self-protection classes. Through this children will plan their future and career in a meaning full way. We are very thankful to Capital IQ Company for giving a great financial support and moral support to the society.
