about service project conducted by employees of S&P Capital IQ (www.spcapitaliq.com) - Business unit of
McGraw Hill Financial (www.mhfi.com), Hyderabad, India.
Project Location: Z. P. High School, D.
Dharmaram Village, Ramayampet Mandal, Medak District, Telangana State, India
About the Project: This is a government school
in which more than 360 students are undergoing for studies. This rural school
is lack of facilities like sanitation, Drinking water, furniture and etc. As a
priority we took up this project to improve sanitation facility in the school
especially for Girls. Because many surveys revealed the fact that, due to lack
of proper and hygienic sanitation facilities at schools, girl students
discontinuing the studies. To make school better place and to make girl
students continue their education at least up to metric level, we initiated
this project. Even though students possess energy and intelligence to get in to
good career, they could not get in to that because of missing leadership qualities.
We conducted a session on “Goal setting and Career Guidance after Class 10” to
class 9 and class 10 students. This session helped them in setting a goal and
different paths to reach their Goal. Volunteers made contribution in these two areas
will make significant change in their life.

Activity: As a Lead to this project,
I collected the information about what the problems has to be addressed first.
I came to know from School Principal and Staff that there is no wash room
facility for girls and lack of hygienic water in the school. We gathered the
necessary information about renovation of wash rooms and water supply
equipment. Volunteers will gather information suitable to the knowledge of students
to train them in various leadership qualities to add value to their life and deliver
those points on CIM day in small interactive groups. And also involves in planting
saplings, conducting quiz and sports competitions and distributing prizes to students.
In addition to that they will arrange furniture and sports equipment to school.
They also will motivate students to dream big and achieve big.

Highlights:
1. MHFI provided Rs.120,000 for
procuring materials and expenses for the project
2. Renovated Wash rooms and
provided hygienic water facility in the school
3. Cleaned the premises and
Planted the Plants
4. Provided Sports material to
students
5. Conducted Quiz and Elocution/Debate
competitions to students.
6. Career Guidance Session to
Class 10th students.
7. Conducted funny games for
class 6 & 7 and distributed prizes
8. Distributed Sweets to all
the students and Pens to all the participants of various competitions
9. Interacted with the Heads
of Village and asked them to use various Govt. funds for the development of
village and School
Impact:
There are more than 360 students currently enrolled in the school.
By providing hygienic sanitation facilities in the school, girl students will
continue their education without any break. They will get inspiration from volunteers
and concentrate on their studies by setting clear goals to learn and grow. In addition
to that school will become better equipped with good facilities.

This year S&P Capital IQ, Hyderabad (part of MHFI group www.spcapitaliq.com ) employees applied for

I am
very much happy to be part in this CIM Project. As Co-Lead to this project, I
gained the knowledge about how to identify the problems and what are the
measures to be taken to address them and also gained much about the
communication and the team building for any activity. This experience helps me
to lead the CIM projects in coming years. Thanks CIQ for giving me this
opportunity.
