CIMA-057-Respect for womanhood on July 7th 2014

About Community Impact Month (Giving back is Essential)
Lead India 2020 Foundation (www.leadindia2020.org) partnered with McGraw-Hill Financial (www.mhfi.com) the company which strongly believes in the motto, 'Giving back is essential'. It extends to giving back to the society. This year MHFI has launched Community Impact Month (CIM) in which 20+ employees would be working together and for solving public problems in their community. MHFI grants $2000 per project and employees spend their personal time on the project. This year S&P Capital IQ (part of MHFI group) (www.capitaliq.com) employees applied for projects from various areas. These employees are working tirelessly to fulfill the motto and render true meaning to 'Giving back is essential'.

Why should we respect Women?
Women give life, love, and care to children, help to build and take care of the home, and feed and clothe their loved ones. In most of the developing world, women are additionally responsible for sustaining their local economies. Women also weave the social fabric of their communities – working together to support schools, organize community events and help to look after neighbors in need.

But today, we all know that the biggest fear the society is facing is Crimes against her and her children. This is mainly because of decreasing moral values in the society.

To embed the moral values (mainly aiming Crimes against women & child) to the children is important today to hold a respectable society tomorrow.

Feedback of the CIM Volunteers:

Prasanthi Battula:

To care about our fellow beings is very rare quality these days. But we can find plenty of this in our organisation. (S&P Capital IQ). I am really lucky enough to take up this cause through CIM project. I thank Dr. Geetha Challa for giving a structure and support to the project. I heart fully thank each and every volunteer for giving their time and talents. Assisting the children in structuring their behaviour is not a small issue. But volunteers made it possible up to a major extent. As this is a beginning step for this project we have to focus on various improvement areas. I hope this project will be continued with more colours.

Riku Rani Ghosh:
It gave me immense pleasure to be a part of the project. I strongly believe that “what we have done for ourselves alone dies with us, what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal.” Though I was a bit hesitant about the outcome of this project but at the end of the day it turned out to be successful and gave me a lot of satisfaction.

Manjusha Mandava:
It was a very useful project, we learned a lot and at the same time shared our knowledge with the children, which will definitely makes a difference. I would like to participate further in the events like these. The training we received from Geetha Challa was an added advantage for the program. We learned a few techniques on how to connect with the children and share the experience based upon their understanding. I would request to conduct more of such programs (from Geetha Challa) and events, such as CIM projects in Government Schools where we can share our knowledge. We would like to listen more on these issues in detail with more case studies

Swarupram Kumar Gonthina:
It was a pleasure to be a part of such a great event. Unlike other projects this was very special one which is very useful in improving the current situation in our country. I would like to thank Prasanthi for giving me this opportunity

Lavanya Kopparthi:
Giving back to society is really a great thing. I am happy to be part of this program. Creating awareness and sharing few facts with girls, helps them to understand the human values and how to respect each other. Students listened very carefully and participated actively. This gave us more interest and could able to complete with utmost satisfaction. I am thankful to all for giving this opportunity.

Sunitha Lakshmi Kumari Thadepalli:
It’s a nice experience to be part of this wonderful event.

Geetha Rani Thota:
The program is easily the most impacting among the GVD programs I have attended till date and I am thankful for this opportunity. Awareness and sensitivity towards crimes against women is definitely the need of the hour and we put our efforts exactly at the right place, the schools. We were able to create the required awareness in girls and sensitized the boys towards the equality factor. We were also able to help them with goal setting, which was another great part of the program. The pre-program training was awesome. Ultimately, this project gave me a wonderful opportunity to contribute from my side in creating a better and safe society.

Feedback from the Teachers:

Sunitha (Sri Ram Nagar Govt. School):
I have attended this session and observed that it is very useful to the students. It is the right time to have such a knowledgeable session to the students to lead a healthy life. Awareness given by the trainers is wonderful especially issues like, how to dress up, behave, observe, and move in the society are useful. I hope that S&P Capital IQ will not limit this program to few schools but will make efforts to reach every school student especially girls, because girl doesn’t speak out when it is required.

Madava Rao:
We can give Academic knowledge to students through Class books but this kind of information is not be available to them. Pictorial representation and practical examples motivated the students on positive thinking and how to live in the society. You have provided this kind of basic and valuable information to my students. Heartily thank you and S&P Capital IQ. I hope you will continue these types of sessions to create awareness among the girl students so that they will know root causes and avoid getting into such situations.

Feedback from the Students:

Ramesh:
This program is wonderful. I am taking an oath today “I will treat girls as my own mother & sister. I will avoid bad friendships. I will work hard to reach my goals.”

Sarasvathi:
I will shout loudly with confidence when any one miss behaves with me. I will let it know to my mother. I will study hard to reach my goal.
