About Community Impact Month (Giving back is Essential)

Lead India 2020 Foundation (www.leadindia2020.org) partnered with McGraw-Hill Financial (www.mhfi.com) the company which strongly believes in the motto, 'Giving back is essential'. It extends to giving back to the society. This year MHFI has launched Community Impact Month (CIM) in which 20+ employees would be working together and for solving public problems in their community. MHFI grants $2000 per project and employees spend their personal time on the project. This year S&P Capital IQ (part of MHFI group) (www.capitaliq.com) employees applied for projects from various areas. These employees are working tirelessly to fulfill the motto and render true meaning to 'Giving back is essential'.

Below are details of one of the CIM projects.

About Zilla Parishad High School-Pulumamidi:

Zilla Parishad High School is located in Pulumamidi village at a distance of 52 Kms from Hyderabad office.
The school has approximately 160 students.

Present problems at ZPHS Pulumamidi

The ZPHS Pulumamidi presently lacks basic amenities, such as benches, drinking water, plants, notebooks, and sports and library equipment.
The students of this school also lack awareness about various career and educational opportunities after complete their secondary education.

Volunteer work done at ZPHS-Pulumamidi

Keeping in mind these problems, S&P Capital IQ Hyd. conducted a CIM event at ZPHS-Pulumamidi on June 21st, 2014

Provided class room desk benches.
Provided water tank and water filter
Provided library racks
Distributed books and necessaries to students.
Cleaning the school premises and planting trees
Distributed Sports Material.
Career guidance session to students.

Impact of Volunteer work at ZPHS-Pulumamidi

With the amenities provided through the CIM project, the school now has a hygiene and healthy environment, which will enable the students to concentrate better on their studies. Now the school also has pure and safe drinking water, which will decrease the absentees due to ill health. The career guidance session has enlightened the pupil on the career options and education qualifications. This awareness will lead to better decision making.

Narsimha Reddy Ginnaram (Project Leader)

This is my first CIM project as a project leader. I have participated in various CIM projects as a volunteer. It was a great opportunity provided by S&P Capital IQ to serve the society. The benches provided by us are very good and the water filter provided by us will help the students to drinking pure water resulting in good health. It interactions with the students made the CIM day a great one for me. I saw the happiness in the eyes of the students after getting the benches and sports material. I am very much thankful to my company for giving me this opportunity and I will continue doing these type of activities in future.

Purushotham Choudhary Marri

Participating in the project is a great learning experience. The CIM project gave me an opportunity to be a ‘doer’. Participation in this project gave me a lot of satisfaction. Giving back to the society should be the priority in our lives. Its great that our company is encouraging the employees to serve the society.

I am very happy for being a part of this corporate social responsibility activity. I had a great time spending with students, and advising them about their future studies. It was nice to see happiness on the faces of future citizens. I would like to participate in more projects like this.

It was a wonderful enjoyment attending this CIM Project on 21st June, 2014. We enjoyed a lot at the pulimamidi school with students by conducting essay writing and elocution competitions. Later we also conducted dance competition and songs competition which was more successful than many reality shows on TV. The post lunch session which included prize distribution and inspirational speeches by leaders motivated all the volunteers to take up more projects in future. Thanks to leader and co-leader of the project for providing me an opportunity to serve the community.

The career guidance given by volunteers helps us to choose good career after completing 10th class.
