About CIM (Giving back is Essential)

Lead India 2020 Foundation (www.leadindia2020.org) partnered with McGraw-Hill Financial (www.mhfi.com) the company which strongly believes in the motto, 'Giving back is essential'. It extends to giving back to the society. This year MHFI has launched Community Impact Month (CIM) in which 20+ employees would be working together and for solving public problems in their community. MHFI grants $2000 per project and employees spend their personal time on the project. This year S&P Capital IQ (part of MHFI group) (www.capitaliq.com) employees applied for projects from various areas. These employees are working tirelessly to fulfill the motto and render true meaning to 'Giving back is essential'.

Below are details of one of the CIM project.

About PHC-Chityal:

PHC-chityal is situated in Nalgonda District and is located at a distance of 105Km from Hyderabad.

This PHC plays a vital role in chityal Mandalam, serving health needs of below poverty line people.

Around 300 outpatients are treated every week and 10 to 15 family planning operations are done here.

Current Problems at PHC Chityal:

Operation Theatre:

Operation theatre does not have controlled and hygienic atmosphere for conducting operations, as well as air conditioner to keep the temperature and humidity under control.

Drinking water facilities:

No water purifiers available in the premises of the hospital leading to unclean drinking water being supplied to patients, leading to worsening of their condition.

Hospital cleanliness:

Hospital premises and surroundings are not clean.

Volunteer work done at PHC Chityal:

Keeping in mind these problems, S&P Capital IQ Hyderabad has conducted a CIM event at PHC, Chityal on June 29th 2014

Donated and installed air conditioner in the operation theatre.

Donated and installed water purifier.

Cleaned the premises and painted the hospital.

Impact of the project

The Air conditioner will lead to a controlled and sterilized environment in the operation theatre. The water purifier at the PHC will provide pure water for patients, enabling a speedy recovery. The improved appearance of the facilities, like clean premises and painted hospital will boost the morale of the staff and encourage them to work selflessly for the betterment of the patients.

Now, thanks to the air-conditioner, the patients and doctors can heave of sigh of relief. I am proud to say that this is only the second air-conditioned PHC in the entire Nalgonda district.

Dr. Kiran Kumar (SPHO): Most of the people’s health is getting affected because of fluoride water in the Nalgonda district. The water purifier is very essential for the patients in the hospital.
