About Community Impact Month (Giving back is Essential)

 

Lead India 2020 Foundation (www.leadindia2020.org) partnered with McGraw-Hill Financial (www.mhfi.com) the company which strongly believes in the motto, 'Giving back is essential'. It extends to giving back to the society. This year MHFI has launched Community Impact Month (CIM) in which 20+ employees would be working together and for solving public problems in their community. MHFI grants $2000 per project and employees spend their personal time on the project. This year S&P Capital IQ (part of MHFI group) (www.capitaliq.com) employees applied for projects from various areas. These employees are working tirelessly to fulfill the motto and render true meaning to 'Giving back is essential'.

 

Below are details of one of the CIM projects.

 

About ZPHS, Railapur

 

ZPHS Railapur School located at Railapur Village, Medak District.

330 students are studying from 6th to 10th class in this school.

 

Current problems at ZPHS, Railapur

 

There are no school benches in the school and all the 330 students are studying by sitting on the Floor. The floor on which the students sit is also damaged. There is water tank to store water in the school as well.

 

Volunteer work done at Railapur

 

Keeping in mind these problems, S&P Capital IQ Hyd. conducted a CIM event at ZPHS Railapur village on 21st June, 2014

 

Helped in the construction of floor and water tank.

Donated school benches.

Cleaned and planted saplings at the school premises.

Conducted career guidance session to students.

Conducted various competitions, such as quiz, essay writing, and elocution to the students.

Served Mid-day meal to the students.

 

Impact of CIM project at ZPHS Railapur village

 

Now the students able to set on newly constructed floor. Few classes are provided with benches. These facilities will enable students to concentrate better on their studies. The career guidance session will enable students to choose a career of their choice and work towards. With the construction of water tank one of the basic necessity of the human survival is also solved.

Raju Posanipally (Leader): This is a wonderful opportunity given to me by MHFI & CIQ management to serve the society and impact the community in a positive way. I have taken this opportunity to make the lives of the people around me better. I am very happy that I was guided the students towards a better career. I hope students will implement all the useful messages given by us and will reach the good position in their careers.

 

Raghavendra Amarnath Goud Gattu Surya (Co-Leader): I thank CIQ management for giving me the opportunity to spend some time with the students. The way we have given career guidance and conducted the competitions are the memorable moments in my life. I am sure the career guidance session will be helpful in making a bright future for the students.

 

Nashiya: I thank CIQ Management for giving me this great opportunity to participate in the CIM project conducted in Railapur School. The time we have spent with the students for conducting career guidance and other competitions will be memorable in my life.

 

Nagalakshmi Kavuri: I thank everybody who is responsible in giving me this opportunity. I bagged a great experience while serving the basic needs in ZPH School. I hope students will effectively utilize the amenities provided by CIQ and make their future a grand success.

 

Sharf Uddin Syed: It’s a great opportunity given to me by MHFI & CIQ management to serve the society. I am very happy to be a part of this team and being able to guide the students towards their careers and a wonderful future in this country.

 

Nagarjuna Muppe: I had the wonderful experience of helping the students to build their career. I have learned lot of new things from the other volunteers. I was impressed a lot with the event. If opportunity comes, I will participate again.

 

Feedback of Beneficiaries:

 

Raja Reddy (Head Master): Thanks to the S&P Capital IQ for renovating the floor and providing benches for students. We have requested the government many times to provide basic amenities but they didn’t. CIQ Management has knowing our needs and came forth to solve them. Students will utilize this facilities effectively and make their future a success.

 

 

 

Srinivas (Student): Thanks to CIQ Management for benches and floor. Before the event we didn’t have proper floor and we are unable to sit on the floor which resulted not being able to concentrate on the lessons. Before the career guidance we didn’t know which higher education we have to study and the opportunities that come from it. After career guidance we are in a position to select our career. About Thimmapur Village

 

Thimmapur Village is located at a distance of 60 KMs from S&P CAPITAL IQ, Hyderabad office.

There are approximately 200 families residing in this village.

 

Current problems at Thimmapur Village

 

The village does not have a continuous water source. They have bore pump facility that works on electricity. When the electricity is there the motor will run throughout the day and most of the water is wasted, where as when the electricity is not available people don’t get water from the bore pump.

Keeping in mind these problems, S&P Capital IQ Hyd. conducted a CIM event at Thimmapur village on 21st June, 2014

 

Helped in the construction of 3 mini water tanks.

Planted saplings at school ground.

Painted all water tanks.

Conducted Environmental Awareness sessions.

Educated the people about the benefits of storage and conservation of water.

 

Impact of CIM project at Thimmapur village

 

Now the villagers don’t have to worry about the availability of water. They can now utilize this time for other productive pursuits. They don’t need to depend on the power availability, which is a perennial problem for water consumption.

Ravi Kumar Kasarla (Leader): I had a wonderful experience with all the volunteers, who have actively participated in the CIM project. This project proved that we can impact the lives of people through small and simple actions. The provision of water tanks is worthwhile mention in this regard. I thank S&P Capital IQ for giving me this opportunity to coordinate and lead this event. I appreciate all the volunteers for gifting me their valuable time, energy, and support. I am looking forward to be part of many such events.

Swapna Kishor (Sarpanch): I thank S&P Capital IQ for providing water storage tanks for my village. They will be very useful at the time of power cuts and for the families for drinking and domestic consumption. This team has done a tremendous work with in a very short time. The awareness program on water conservation has enlightened us so much.

 

S. Ramesh (villager): We face water problem during the power outage. Providing these water tanks will now save a lot of time for us. About MPP School at Nadulapur 

 

Nadulapur Village is situated at a distance of 65 KMs from Capital IQ, Hyderabad office.

There are approximately 84 students studying in this school.

 

Present problems at MPP School, Nadulapur

 

As the roof of the school is leaking and the rain water falling in the class rooms.

No toilet facilities in the school.


 

Volunteer work done at MPP School, Nadulapur

 

Keeping in mind these problems, S&P Capital IQ Hyd. conducted a CIM event at Nadulapur on June 16th 2014

 

Helped in the painting of school and black boards.

Conducted an education awareness session.

Helped in the construction of wash rooms and transported the construction materials.

Conducted an environmental awareness session, primarily on water conservation and plastic usage.

Distributed books and stationery to students.

Conducted games and distributed prizes.

 

Impact of Volunteer work at MPP School, Nadulapur

 

The facilities provided for the school will enable the students and teachers to concentrate on learning and imparting education. The sports equipment will encourage students to practice and excel at sports. The toilet facilities will improve the sanitation and hygiene in the school and children will be less prone to diseases. The sessions created an awareness among students, and they took an oath to conserve the environment, prohibit the plastic, and study well.

Thirumala Rao Kalluri (Project Leader): As I have the intention to do serve the society, hence I think god has given me this opportunity through our company. I am very much happy to be a part of this successful CIM event. Working for the welfare of society has given me happiness and satisfaction. All the Volunteers and school teachers gave me great support for the completion of this project, a big thank you all of them. My heart full thanks to S&P Capital IQ for giving me this great opportunity to coordinate and lead this event.

 

Ramesh Babu Kolla (Co-Leader): I am happy to be a part of this CIM Project as a Co-Leader. I felt very happy when saw the in the intent faces of school children, when we explained about the education. The time spent with school children is the happiest moment of my life. I convey my sincere thanks to S&P Capital IQ for giving me this great opportunity to serve the society.

 

Srikanth Panduga: I am very glad to be a volunteer for this CIM Project. I felt that we were doing something important and worthwhile for the community. It was an excellent opportunity for me as a volunteer. We explained to the students about the career, and how to study and build up a good career path. Students have responded in a positive way when I asked few questions which gave me a insights into their great budding minds. I thank S&P Capital IQ for giving me this opportunity to serve the needy.

 

Muralidhar Sheri: I am very proud to be a part of this project. Life of every citizen starts from the school level, that’s why they catch them young. I guided them how to study and to be successful in the life. In my view this is great project, which guided the students.

 

Mahendra Kumar Dhulipala: Thank you very much for giving me this opportunity to work with Thirumala Rao. The School children’s participation in the games and quiz was great. We guided the school children about the environmental conservation.

 

Anand Kumar Kakara: It is an enriching and satisfactory experience. I feel honored to be part of it and do my bit for the society. I sincerely thank our company for making me a part of it and all the volunteers for their coordination.

About Junior College:

 

The Govt Junior College Narayanpur Samsthan is located in Nalgonda Distict, Samsthan Narayanpur Mandal at a distance of 75 KMs from our Hyderabad office.

Approximately 410 students are studying in this college.

We have conducted a GVD project in June 2011 for this college and provided minimum requirements.

From last 4 years pass percentage of this college is above 95%. Three students from this college got state level ranks.

 

Current problems at Junior College

 

This College doesn’t have minimum infrastructure, such as drinking water, library, tables and chairs for classrooms, and book racks.

This area is totally affected by florid water.

This college was recently moved to its own campus, which has bore well facility but don’t have De-fluorination plant

 

Volunteer works done at Govt, Junior college, Samsthan Narayanpur

 

Keeping in mind these problems, S&P Capital IQ Hyd. conducted a CIM event at Govt Junior colleges on 29th June 2014

Installed and inaugurated RO water plant.

Donated chairs and books for library.

Conducted games and distributed prizes.

Planted saplings in college premises.

Conducted quiz and career guidance session for students.

 

Impact of CIM project at Govt, Junior college, Samsthan Narayanpur

 

Now the students will drink fluorine free water enabling them to lead a better and healthy lifestyle. They now have awareness on various career paths. They have lot of the self-help books in the library. The parents, teachers, and students are feeling happy with the motivational activities done at the college.

Yedukondalu Badeti-CIM Leader: This is my second CIM Project as a leader. Its a great opportunity to serve the society and I am very happy to be part of this successful CIM event. I have attended more than 6 CIMs in the past as a volunteer. I am very much thankful to S&P Capital IQ Management for giving me this opportunity to coordinate and lead this event. I am looking forward to be part of many such events, and kudos to the entire team for supporting me in this event and a big thanks for each and every one of them for their enthusiastic participation.

 

Veeraiah bandla: I have participated six CIMs till now. Being a part of this event is really amazing. It was an awesome experience to spend with the college children & interacting with them. I got a chance to relive my college days through this CIM project.

 

Venkata Bhargava Ram Andukuri: It’s my fifth CIM program. First of all I am thankful to our S&P Capital IQ for giving me a great opportunity to serve the society through CIM events. I am very happy to be part of this successful CIM event. Our volunteers did a great job in cleaning the premises and planting the saplings, and interacting with students. Badraiah Karnati: It was a nice experience to spend the day with college children. I am thankful to the management of our organization for giving me this wonderful opportunity to serve the society.

Pavan Kumar Chiluveri: The CIM project we did at Narayanpur village govt Jr College has given me a great experience. I am proud to have been a small part of it. I had the privilege to meet the students with different thoughts. I have guided few of them on goal setting and how to achieve them.

About Lake-Hydershahkote

 

Lakes play a very important role in the improvement of the ground water levels.

Hydershahkote Lake is situated in Ranga Reddy District.

It helps the people around by Improving the underground water Levels and animals for drinking water.

It is situated in the center of the village which creates a pleasant environment for the people around.

 

Present problems at Lake, - Hydershahkote

 

The lake is totally covered with all unnecessary plants and dumped waste.

The village is facing water scarcity.

The waste dumped on the banks of the lank is leading to an unhygienic environment for the residents of the colonies around the lake.

 

Volunteer work done at Lake - Hydershahkote

 

Keeping in view these problems, S&P Capital IQ Hyd. conducted a CIM event at Hydershahkote Lake on June 2, 2014

 

Removed all the waste plants and grass weeds in and around the lake.

Removed the wastage and educated the people in the surroundings not to dump the waste near lake.

Repaired the canals that were closed due to development of colonies.

Developed a pipeline from adjacent colonies into the lake.

Impact of Volunteer work at - Hydershahkote

 

After the CIM project, the entire lake was clean from the weeds, waste plants, and waste. This helps the colony people in developing a good and healthy environment by improving greenery around the lake. As the lake was cleaned from unnecessary trees this would help the ground to absorb more water in rainy season and thus improve the underground water levels. The water scarcity in the village will be reduced to a major extent as a result of increased water levels.

Arjun Kumar Yadav (Leader): Its great opportunity to serve the society and I am very happy to be part of this successful CIM event. Venkat Satya Sudheer Baru: It gave me immense pleasure and satisfaction to attend this environment related project. Water is the basic essential for any living being on this planet, but due to greediness of human beings water is also became scarce on the planet. Explaining villagers the importance of groundwater is very impressive. This project is very useful to increase the ground water levels, which will be very useful to nearby colony residents. Thank you very much for giving me an opportunity to serve the society, which gave me immense satisfaction.

 

Susheel Kumar Girkar: It is an eminent and very satisfactory experience. Though this is my second event as a volunteer for a CIM event, it gave me immense pleasure to go and contribute to a water affected community area on the outskirts of Hyderabad. I thank Arjun Kumar Yadav Pasham & S&P Capital IQ for giving me this opportunity to contribute. I am looking forward to visiting more such projects in future.

 

Bharath Kumar Velmula: It is a pleasure to serve the society. It was a good project, proposed to improve the awareness in people about ground water resources and improving the resources surrounded for better utilization and conservation for future generations. Ravi Kumar Shetty: It is my pleasure to serve the society. It was a good project resulting in the improvement of the ground water resources and environment of the village. Water is basic essential for any living being and I am happy to be a part of conserving. I am looking forward to participate in more such projects in future.
