About CIM (Giving back is Essential)

Lead India 2020 Foundation (www.leadindia2020.org) partnered with McGraw-Hill Financial (www.mhfi.com) the company which strongly believes in the motto, 'Giving back is essential'. It extends to giving back to the society. This year MHFI has launched Community Impact Month (CIM) in which 20+ employees would be working together and for solving public problems in their community. MHFI grants $2000 per project and employees spend their personal time on the project. This year S&P Capital IQ (part of MHFI group) (www.capitaliq.com) employees applied for projects from various areas. These employees are working tirelessly to fulfill the motto and render true meaning to 'Giving back is essential'.

Below are details of one of the CIM projects.

About Rythu Bazar, Kukatpally

  • Farmers in and around Hyderabad come to Rythu Bazar, Kukatpally and sell their vegetables regularly.
  • Farmers from 96 villages will come to the Rythu Bazar.
  • The Rythu Bazar provides a direct bridge to vegetable buyers and farmers avoiding middle men.

Present problems at Rythu Bazar

  1. Rythu Bazar lacks proper wash rooms, toilets, and dust bins resulting in discomfort for both farmers and consumers.
  2. The farmers do not have proper knowledge in safe cultivation.

Volunteer work done at Rythu Bazar

Keeping in mind these problems, S&P Capital IQ Hyderabad conducted a CIM event at Rythu Bazar on June 09, 2014.

  • Repaired entire wash rooms by replacing water tapes, pipes, and other plumbing materials.
  • Painted wash rooms.
  • Donated clean up materials and mop sticks for washrooms.
  • A concrete platform was constructed to keep dust bins.
  • A one hour lecture was arranged by Asst Director NIPHM (National Institute of Plant and Health Management) and farmers well interacted with the Asst Director.
  • Cleaned and planted saplings at the Rythu Bazar Premises.

Impact of Volunteer work at Rythu Bazar

After the CIM project, the wash rooms have a proper drainage system and all the rooms have water supply. Provision of these facilities enables the usage of wash rooms by farmers and visitors as well. This facilities will also improve hygiene and sanitation of the market.
