CIM Highlights at Desilting-WaterTank-Nerellapalli:

Synopsis of the Project:

The Ground Water in Nerallapalli Village and around Nalgonda district is highly contaminated with fluorosis. This is a major challenge for the survival of Human and Animal life forms. Extracting and using ground water exposes many issues. The only solution available is to increase the surface water either by Desilting/excavating water tanks or mobilize water other than from ground.

About  Village Water Tank-Nerellapalli:

Village lake (village water tank) plays key role for Agriculture sector and meets the water needs for animals, birds, and villagers.
This Village water tank occupies approximately 200 acres of land and is located at a distance of ½ kilometer from nerallapalli village.
Lake is called as padmavathi cheruvu or pachima cheruvu.

Present problems at Water Tank-Nerellapalli:

The village water tank is facing problems due to lack of maintenance. Waste plants and trees are growing around the water tank. Heavy mud comes from higher area in the rainy season. Due to this sedimentation, the capacity of water storage of lake is gradually decreasing. This is resulting in shortage of water and increase in fluorosis due to decrease in ground water levels.

Volunteer work done at Desilting-WaterTank-Nerellapalli:

  1. Guided and helped in the transportation of excavated mud.
  2. Plantation at Primary school premises in Nerellapalli village
  3. Interacted with farmers and created awareness about health management for them and their surroundings hygiene.
  4. Conducted awareness classes for farmers about financial management in their regular life and also health management related to precautions while using of fertilizers and pesticides.
  5. Conducted games and Distributed gifts to farmers.
  6. Conducted career guidance and moral classes for primary school students.
  7. Conducted games for students and distributed gifts to winners.

Impact of completion of the project :

  • Increased water storage capacity; resulting in a steady supply of for Irrigation and Drinking
  • Improved ground-water levels for tube wells, and reduction of fluorosis
  • soil morphology enhancement, moisture retention, and fertility and crop yield improvement for 3 to 5 years
  • Boosts organic farming, and reduces the usage of fertilizers and pesticides
  • fishery and animal husbandry sectors flourish with increased availability of water and fodder
  • generation of employment to labour in agriculture & allied sectors primarily in the lean season
  • Unique flora and fauna thrive leading to Eco-tourism and conservation of Bio-diversity

Distilling of water tank has increased the water storage land fertility and also yields good results. Thanks to S&P Capital IQ.

Murali :
Land fertility has increased from this project. More water can be stored and used for agriculture.

Chandraiah :
With less investment, land fertility has increased. Health suggestions given by volunteers are very good. They have also made us aware about latest techniques used in cultivation of lands, etc.

Sheik Hussain :
With this fertile mud, we can reduce the use of pesticides. Mud itself works as good fertilizer and gives us good results. Your company has taken good step and helping us to lead happy life.

Yadaiah :
As this mud is used as fertilizer, we can reduce pesticides usage and yield organic products. The process of distilling of water tank is very useful in villages. We will provide you full support, please come up with this type of projects in future.

Sri. Gafar, Market committee Vice chairman and Ex. Village Sarpanch :
In villages water is very important for agriculture. By distilling, water storage is increased and with less cost of investment, we can yield good results. We are requesting to you please provide us drinking water tank because lack of water facility.
