About Community Impact Month (Giving back is Essential)
Lead India 2020 Foundation (www.leadindia2020.com) partnered with McGraw-Hill Financial (www.mhfi.com) the company which strongly believes in the motto, 'Giving back is essential'. It extends to giving back to the society. This year MHFI has launched Community Impact Month (CIM) in which 20+ employees would be working together and for solving public problems in their community. MHFI grants $2000 per project and employees spend their personal time on the project. This year S&P Capital IQ (part of MHFI group) (www.capitaliq.com) employees applied for projects from various areas. These employees are working tirelessly to fulfill the motto and render true meaning to 'Giving back is essential'.
Below are details of one of the CIM projects.
CIM Highlights at PHC- Jagdevpur
About PHC-Jagdevpur
Ø PHC-Jagadevpur is situated in Medak District, Telangana State
Ø Around 60-70 outpatients are treated every week, apart from regular field visitors in the rural areas.
Ø PHC provides general out-patient consultation, and gynecologist and delivery services
Current problems at PHC-Jagdevpur
The PHC Jagdevpur lacks proper drainage, and water and electrical supply. Lack of these facilities is disabling the usage of labor rooms.
Hence, pregnant women experience a painful journey to the city for treatment. Most of them are poor and also cannot afford time to do that.
Volunteer work done at PHC-Jagdevpur
Keeping in mind these problems, S&P Capital IQ Hyd. conducted a CIM event at PHC-Jagdevpur on May 26, 2014
Ø Purchased and installed a submersible pump, water tank, and related pipes and material
Ø Repaired/replaced electrical wiring in ward and labor room, and installed a lighting system for PHC entrance.
Ø Repaired/replaced and painted windows and ventilation systems, in ward, labor room, doctor's room, & other rooms.
Ø Door replacement for labor room
Ø Painting for entrance gates and name board
Ø Provided garbage bins, cleaning and plantation at the PHC Premises
Impact of Volunteer work at PHC-Jagdevpur
After the CIM project, the entire building now has drainage system and all the rooms have water supply. Provision of these facilities enables the usage of labor room, saving the pregnant women the torrid ordeal of going to far off places. These facilities will enable doctors to provide better treatment to the patients with improved zeal and enthusiasm. But, most of all this project, will now enable safe and healthy delivery of babies, the future of our nation.
