About Community Impact Month (Giving back is Essential)

Lead India 2020 Foundation (www.leadindia2020.org) partnered with McGraw-Hill Financial (www.mhfi.com) the company which strongly believes in the motto, 'Giving back is essential'. It extends to giving back to the society. This year MHFI has launched Community Impact Month (CIM) in which 20+ employees would be working together and for solving public problems in their community. MHFI grants $2000 per project and employees spend their personal time on the project. This year S&P Capital IQ (part of MHFI group) (www.capitaliq.com) employees applied for projects from various areas. These  employees are working tirelessly to fulfil the motto and render true meaning to 'Giving back is essential'.

Below are details of one of the CIM projects.

About Madhavapuri Hills

  1. Madhavapuri hills is situated at a distance of 8.5 KMS from S&P Capital IQ, Hyderabad office.
  2. In this colony, total residential strength is 5,500 people and around 1,800 families with 275 to 300 small children (5 to14 years).

Current problems at Madhavapuri Hills

Madhavapuri Hills Colony has seven parks places in lay out plan but no park is developed. Most of the children from this colony are going to neighbour Colony Park for learning Skating and playing of outdoor games. Out of seven parks one park has an area of approximately 1.5 acres. Colony Welfare Association and Panchayathi authorities said they have plans to develop at least one park this colony but owing to shortage of funds they are not able to develop it. So they requested us to construct skating rink for children, which is more useful to this colony along with neighbour colonies.

Volunteer work done at Madhavapuri Hills

Keeping in mind these problems, S&P Capital IQ Hyd. conducted a CIM Project at Madhavapuri Hills for Construction of Skating Rink and play park development

  • Briefly explained about the S&P Capital IQ and CIM program to the local community.
  • Helped in the construction of skating rink.
  • Cleaning of skating rink and park premises.
  • Volunteers planted the trees in park premises.
  • Distribution of pencil boxes to Skating Practicing Kids.
  • Distribution of sweets and chocolates to all children and colony residents.

Impact of Volunteer work at Madhavapuri Hills

As the skating rink is ready to use for skate practice and competitions purpose, the colony residents got motivated to develop park and utilize the facility. Colony residents also promised to safeguard and improve the greenery in the park.

I am very proud to be a part of this project. This skating rink is very useful to children, who are interested to participate in national level or state level events. They can use this skating rink and hone their skills. I noticed that the kids are very interested and enthusiastic to play skating in this court. Our leaders took up this project and handled it well. Our volunteers did a great job in cleaning the premises and planting the trees. We are very happy to participate in this project. Thanks to Kishore and Kalyan. This is one of the best CIM projects of my CIQ life.

I am very much satisfied with providing Skating ground for young children residing in and around Madhavapuri colony. Encouraging sports at community level is a new and good activity in our CIM programmes. We can bring out their hidden talents of young children at sports and make good sportsmen/women by providing basic / necessary facilities to compete in Village, District, State, National and International Level Competitions. In future, if we can take up such projects at school levels as well. It will help for more school children. Thank you very much for giving me an opportunity to participate in this event.

Sirisha Kodati:
I am very happy to join Kishore and Kalyan who volunteered to develop the community. In this era sports play a very important role in the physical development of the children. Providing skating ground is very useful for the kids. Joining in this group made me feel happy. I saw the kids skating show, their energy levels and active participation proved that skating ground is useful for them. I am sure with proper training they can become one of the future generation’s sports person. Our volunteers who were present over there in that premises actively participated and helped Kalyan and Kishore in cleaning the premises planting the trees etc. three cheers to them.
