Update about the service project conducted by employees of S&P Capital IQ, www.spcapitaliq.com, Hyderabad - (Business unit of McGraw Hill Financial www.mhfi.com )

About Community Impact Program: McGraw-Hill Financial (www.mhfi.com ), the company which strongly believes in the motto, 'Giving back is essential'. MHFI encourages its employees to work for service projects in which 3+ employees would be working together for solving public problems in their community to build better lives and stronger communities. MHFI grants $1000 per project and employees spend their personal time on the project. This year S&P Capital IQ, Hyderabad (part of MHFI group) employees applied for projects from various areas of the Nation to serve the society under Employee Volunteer Grant (EVG).

Project Location: Suravaram Village, Santhakaviti Mandal, Srikakulam District, Andhra Pradesh, India
About the Project:  Suravaram village is located in Srikakualm District, Santakaviti Mandal which is 800 KM from our Hyderabad Office. Nearly 150 students are there in the village and most of them are backward classes and their parents are daily wage labor and farmers, hence they are struggling to purchase various types of books, magazines regularly to develop their knowledge, employment guidelines and competitive exam books to develop and for their better career. Hence our villagers are happy to have a Library as we don’t have library in surrounding villages also. Hence it is our villagers’ humble request to start a Library through EVG project by our Kind natured organization S&P Capital IQ. I am proud to say one of the villagers (Mr. Vempala Annajee Rao) from the village donated one room to use for Library in Suravaram Village and Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation volunteers & Villagers are agreed to bare the maintenance charges like power bill and all other regular maintenance charges to run the library in a better useful way.

Activity: CIQ Volunteers and village youth members set up the Library in a proper way. All the furniture material is fitted. Our volunteers submitted the library material along with books for the value of $1000 to the village Sarpanch. Our volunteers guided the villagers to use the library in a better way and expressed valuable inspirational message of importance of book reading and also guided the job opportunities information for unemployed youth and also explained the career guidance information for the school and college students by interacting with them.

Highlights:
1.       MHFI provided Rs.60,000 for procuring materials and expenses for the project
2.       Brief introduction about Capital IQ and EVG Program.
3.       Fitting Library infrastructure and arranging Book shelves in an order.
4.       Explained Library management techniques to the villagers
5.       Explained importance of book reading and motivated to read various academic and personality development books
6.       Conducting Career Guidance cession to the school and college students
7.       Sharing the knowledge on various Job opportunities to the unemployed youth
8.       Interacting cession with students.

Impact:
The established Library by S&P Capital IQ is giving benefit to more than 150 students along with the neighboring villagers. It can be changed the usage of valuable time of the village elders and students by reading various types of inspirational books. Our volunteers’ message strengthens immense power and confidence in the students and unemployed youth to improve their quality of life. All the attended elders, youth and students are highly satisfied and the conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to our esteemed organization S&P Capital IQ-McGraw Hill Financial.

Appala Naidu Gandi: It is great opportunity to serve in the EVG project in Suravram Village. It gave me lot of pleasure by observing enthusiasm of students to read various types of books. Villagers are more satisfied with the establishment of library and I proud that the taking responsibility to run the library in successful manner by Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation volunteers and village active youth members.

Nageswara Rao K:- Generally libraries are very rare in the rural areas. As with the eagerness of villagers and students and also with the support of S&P Capital IQ, now Suravaram village can be a model for surrounding villages to get motivated for knowledge empowerment by reading books.
