About Community Impact Program: McGraw-Hill Financial (www.mhfi.com ), the company which strongly believes in the motto, 'Giving back is essential'. MHFI encourages its employees to work for service projects in which 3+ employees would be working together for solving public problems in their community to build better lives and stronger communities. MHFI grants $1000 per project and employees spend their personal time on the project. This year S&P Capital IQ, Hyderabad (part of MHFI group) employees applied for projects from various areas of the Nation to serve the society under Employee Volunteer Grant (EVG).

Project Location: A.V.V High School, S.V.N. Road Warangal, Warangal Mandal, Warangal District, Telangana, India
About the Project:  A.V.V. high school is located in S.V.N. Road, Warangal district which is around 160 kms from our CIQ Hyderabad office. It is a government aided school running under state government of Telangana. This is a school started in 1944 by Acharya Sri Chandha Kanthayya Sresti, A great philanthropist in the Telangana region. This was a first Telugu medium school in north Telangana region, which is providing free education for the poor and under privileged community from decades. Toilets in this school in a very bad position now, especially girl students are facing many problems with damaged wash rooms, they are about to abandoned. If we renovate those wash rooms, it will very much useful to the girls studying in the school.

Activity: On EVG day we have conducted Essay writing and elocution competition to the students and had an interaction session with the 10th class students and explained them the importance of environmental protection and hygienic conditions etc. finally distributed prizes to the winners in the competitions.

Highlights:
1.       MHFI provided Rs.60,000 for procuring materials and expenses for the project
2.       Renovated girls’ wash rooms.
3.       Distributed Sports Material.
4.       Interaction session with the students.
5.       School premises cleaning.
6.       Plantation of saplings.

Impact:
Lack of toilets, especially separate girls toilets are a big problem in Indian government schools. This is leading for a significant number of drop outs from government schools. Even government of India is also taking this as a serious issue. Now as we provided a beautiful wash room for girl students in this school, it will definitely lead to reduce the girl student drop outs and may attract those who dropped their education in middle due to this problem

Ganesh Penugonda(Project Leader): It is a wonderful opportunity for me and I extended my sincere thanks to S&P capital IQ for giving me this opportunity and I am really thankful to my team for their cooperation. This project gave me a great satisfaction because in this, we have provided basic facilities to the government school. The students and staff are very happy with this project. I look forward to involve more such projects in the future.
Venkata Ramana: It’s a great opportunity to serve the society and I am very happy to be part of this project. On part of this project we provided the wash room renovation and sports material to A.V.V. High school, Warangal and conducted the career guidance classes to the students. The activities which we conducted in the project will support the needy people and that is in turn gave me immense pleasure. Thanks to Ganesh and S&P Capital IQ for giving me such a wonderful opportunity. I look forward to visiting more such projects in the future.
