About Community Impact Month (Giving back is Essential)
Lead India 2020 Foundation (www.leadindia2020.org) partnered with McGraw-Hill Financial (www.mhfi.com) the company which strongly believes in the motto, 'Giving back is essential'. It extends to giving back to the society. This year MHFI has launched Community Impact Month (CIM) in which 20+ employees would be working together and for solving public problems in their community. MHFI grants $2000 per project and employees spend their personal time on the project. This year S&P Capital IQ (part of MHFI group) (www.capitaliq.com) employees applied for projects from various areas. These employees are working tirelessly to fulfill the motto and render true meaning to 'Giving back is essential'.
Below are details of one of the CIM projects.
About MPUPS MOOSAPET, NARSAPUR MANDAL:
MPUPS is located in Moosapet, Narsapur Mandal Medak District.
The school has 140 students studying Telugu medium.
Current problems at
The school doesn’t have certain basic facilities, such as benches, chairs, and book racks.
It also doesn’t have proper wall to protect the classrooms.
As the students are from rural back ground they don’t have enough knowledge on available career options.
Volunteer work done at
Keeping in mind these problems, S&P Capital IQ Hyd. conducted a CIM event at MPUPS, Moosapet on June 30, 2014.
Helped in the construction of iron grill to protect the benches from the rain water.
Donated chairs (4), library racks (2), and Alimarah (1).
Donated sports kit.
Conducted a career development session for high school students.
Conducted various competitions, such as quiz, essay writing and other sports.
Arranged a life skill program for students in partnership with Lead India 2020.
Impact of Volunteer work at
After the CIM project, the school now has an iron grill that protects the benches that are in the school from the rain water and from theft. With the provision of grills, the corridors are the school is being utilized as the class rooms. As a result of the career development session, the students now have awareness and action plan towards their careers. The life skill program taught them how to plan and lead an ideal life.
Feedback of the CIM volunteers:
Kiran Kumar Reddy Bandakadi: It’s very nice experience. We encouraged and motivated the students in studies and other activities by providing Books, Benches and sports material. I am very happy be a part of the project.
Raghavender Mudi: I am very happy for participating in this successful CIM event. Guiding the students for right path and growth in career gave immense pleasure. I am also very much pleased that we provided sports equipment and funded the civil works.
Srinivas Rao (Headmaster): I convey my heartfelt gratitude to S&P Capital IQ team for providing the iron grill facility, chairs, and sports kit to our school. My special thanks to all the volunteers who actively conducted essay writing, quiz, and other competitions to our school children.
Vanisri (Teacher): The program conducted by S&P Capital IQ gave us immense happiness. The social work they are doing is encouraging the students to think about the society. Quiz, essay writing, elocution, and sports have really motivated our students. I am very happy to see that the professionals (volunteers) who are highly educated are spending their personal time for doing great things. I take the pleasure to thank their managers and mentors.
Pravalika (Student-7th Class): We are very thankful to the CIQ employees who acted as volunteers today. Thanks a lot to the S&P Capital IQ company. We request you to please conduct such type of events in all the schools, which is very much interesting and useful to all the students.
M. Rajinj (Student-6th Class): With the program conducted by S&P capital IQ I could frame my future goal. I am promising that once I start earning I will also do something to the society. The tag line on their T shirts “Giving back is Essential” has really motivated us.
